Help Marcia and Rich Vance Rebuild

Donation protected
I am Linda Ramey-Greiwe the sister-in-law of Marcia (Greiwe) Vance and Rich Vance. Marcia and Rich's Defiance home was completely destroyed in a tornado Friday, December 10, 2021. They built their ranch style home on my in-laws family farm. Today, all that is left is the subfloor and the basement. Their cars were also destroyed.

Marcia's parents, Bob and Wanda Greiwe, also live on the family farm. Their home was damaged, but not destroyed.

Marcia and Rich were at home when the tornado struck. They rushed to the basement. Marcia was in her house shoes and lost one of those on the way to the basement. After the tornado, Rich looked up from the basement and could see the sky through the subfloor. He told Marcia he thought the house was gone. They came back up the stairs and truly in the most literal sense, their house was gone. And everything in it. Marcia had to borrow a pair of shoes from a neighbor just to walk around the yard.

Marcia is a woman of incredible faith, and they have lots of supportive family and friends. But, when I think about Marcia and Rich waking up and not having shoes, much less underwear, socks, a coat, or a home, it seems overwhelming.

We give thanks God protected them, along with Bob and Wanda through this ravishing tornado. We are also grateful for everyone who has sent prayers and support. With your help, things can be replaced.

Many people have asked how they can help. You can help by donating to this fund to help them replace their basic items and provide food and shelter while their home is re-built.

Here is a link to a news story about the tornado and the destruction in the area. It was Rich and Marcia's neighbor who was killed. About one minute into the video Rich Vance shares what happened at their home:

Rich and Marcia's subfloor, destroyed car and debris scattered across their yard. Their home is a total loss.

This is Bob and Wanda's home after the tornado.  For those of you who have seen their home, you know there was a family room and garage, but it was torn off and scattered across the field.  Many of the windows were blown out and there is broken glass throughout.

From their basement after the storm, you can see daylight coming through the ceiling where there first floor used to reside.

Again, from the basement you can see the sky. The house was blown away.

The couch in the basement they sought refuge on to ride out the storm.

Marcia and Rich have many grandchildren and even a great-grandchild who visits weekly. These toys are some of the only things left in the basement.

This is a photo of Marcia and Rich's yard with the family farm in the background. Marcia, Terry, Connie (Greiwe) Kisker, and Todd Greiwe's grandmother's former home still stands, somehow missing the destruction. The barn built in the 1940s by their grandfather (below )was destroyed.
