Our dear friend Maria is living through a loss no mother should ever have to face.

On the night of September 22, her 16-year-old son, Hernan, was struck and killed by a driver who fled the scene. Maria was there with him and stayed by his side until the very end.

Hernan was kind, creative, and deeply loved. He had a whole life ahead of him, and his family should have had so much more time with him.

Maria’s daughter was also struck that night. She is in the hospital recovering from a broken hip. As Maria grieves her son, she is also trying to be there for her daughter through what may be a long recovery.

Maria is a single mother and her family’s sole provider. Right now, she needs the space to mourn Hernan and care for her daughter without facing every expense alone. We’re raising $25,000 to help with:
