Help Marge & Astrid Survive

Hi, my name is Margie and my partner Astrid and I are in desperate need of funds in order to survive, let me tell you a little bit about us, and how we got here.

Astrid and I are both queer, trans, and disabled. At the beginning of the pandemic, March of 2020, we were booth gainfully employed. Once quarantine hit, the economic toll it took on Astrids employment was immense: she was furloughed and then lost her job. We managed to survive with unemployment and my income, but after the extra $600 in unemployment ran out we found ourselves in even more dire need. 

in December of last year, I was lucky enough to finda dream job; however, it is still not enough to make ends meet. Astrid started a job last month but it is already taking a toll— her employer refuses to change her name in the system to her chosen name, so everyone in the office knows her dead name. For those of you who don’t know, this is severely traumatic for a trans person. It has become ever more apparent that this job is not sustainable long term. However, we are going to stick it out as long as we can.

We have been surviving, but we are getting more and more behind on our monthly bills; we haven’t been able to pay rent for two months, and March is right around the corner.

We realize the depth of the impact this past year has had on everyone, which makes it even more difficult to ask for help from our community, but we have no other choice. We ask this from the deepest part of our hearts, and will pay it forward as soon as we are able.

The $5,000 will go towards our rent, a new (used) car and the cost of temporary transportation until we can secure a vehicle. The estimated breakdown isbelow:

$2550 - back rent
$1000 - used Santa Fe 
$450 - back bills
$1000 - transport, basic living necessities (groceries, pet food, gas for the car once purchased)


I will provide evidence of payment as funds come in. Our biggest priority is purchasing a vehicle so wedo not have to rely on ride shares.
