Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers, I am reaching out on behalf of my dear sister Margaret, who recently faced an unimaginable challenge—she had to undergo a life-changing leg amputation. As she begins the difficult journey of healing and adjusting, she needs our help more than ever.
Over the past several years, Margaret has endured numerous significant health issues. A hip fracture she sustained years ago has caused ongoing mobility challenges. Shortly after her hip fracture, she received a diagnosis of stage 4 breast cancer. Unfortunately, Medicare did not provide coverage for reconstructive surgery, resulting in lasting scarring from the cancer. Despite these challenges, she demonstrated remarkable determination and successfully fought the cancer. However, her health struggles continued when she developed Guillain-Barré Syndrome after receiving a flu shot, leaving her hands severely impaired. Consequently, Margaret requires ongoing care and is unable to perform tasks independently due to her limited hand function. A recent accident involving her wheelchair resulted in the amputation of her foot.
Margaret is a fighter, but she cannot do this alone. She needs essential items like a proper medical bed, mobility aids, and home modifications to make her space accessible. The cost of these necessities, along with medical expenses, is overwhelming.
Your generosity—no matter the amount—will go directly toward helping Margaret regain her independence and live comfortably. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Every bit of support makes a difference. Medicare will not cover the cost of these essential items.
Thank you for your kindness and compassion. Let’s rally around Margaret and show her she’s not alone on this journey!
