Help Marcy Fight Aggressive FIP

Grace and I adopted Marcy In October and she has been the best little kitty we could ask for. In late November Marcy became increasingly lethargic and developed distention in her abdomen. Testing of the fluid in her abdomen by her vet concluded that she has a condition called FIP, or feline infectious peritonitis.

FIP is caused by a mutation of a coronavirus, which cats come in contact with very regularly. Unfortunately in rare cases like hers, mutations can rapidly become fatal without intervention.

FIP is presumed to be a death sentence, as current drugs known to treat it are not yet FDA approved and cannot be recommended or prescribed by veterinarians. However, these drugs are available through some FIP foundations. Though costly, this treatment is known to CURE the disease, not just manage symptoms, allowing kittens to lead full and happy lives.

Treatment is 84 days of injections of a drug known as GS-441524. Though not a guaranteed cure, statistics and studies show promising results (about 94% of cats in total remission). Without the drug, Marcy’s veterinarian estimates she will only have a few weeks to a month left with us.

We are so desperate and devastated that at just 6 months old, we could lose Marcy. Please help in anyway you can, and if treatment ends up not working out for our little girl, all funds will go towards her vet bills and unexpected ER visits for sudden onset hypocalcemia, and the remaining distributed to FIP causes. We have to act fast and be proactive in order to fight this and keep her from deteriorating more than she already has.
