Help Marcus Walk Again: Support His Recovery
Donation protected
My name is Chassidy and I’m trying to raise money for my husband, Marcus Dean. We are in desperate need of help with paying our monthly bills and household expenses. My husband went from dancing with his daughter on her birthday in March to not being able to walk. In August of 2024, my husband noticed his left leg randomly jerking. I made an appointment at the doctor and his diagnosis was restless leg. Fast forward to November and he began losing all of his balance; the best way I can describe it is he looked like a baby learning to walk. By Thanksgiving, he could no longer walk unassisted. We went back to the doctor the week after Thanksgiving and they scheduled an MRI for January, more than a month away. They also sent him to physical therapy. Three days after his doctor's visit on December 8, 2024, he got down on the floor to do his PT and wasn't able to stand back up. He could no longer support himself on his legs. EMS came and took him to Prisma where he was immediately admitted to the hospital and sent to the Neurology unit. The MRI showed that his spine had narrowed and was compressing his spinal cord. He had surgery to put in spacers and to get the pressure off his spinal cord. We were told that he would have been paralyzed if he had not come to the hospital when he did. He was released on 12/17 from the hospital with a walker and he is now learning how to walk again. My husband has worked his entire life to take care of our family and has never asked for help. He is such a good, honest, caring man. Right now we are asking for anything that you may want to donate to help us with our bills because right now we have no idea when he will be able to go back to driving an 18-wheeler truck, his profession for the last 24 years. We are grateful for anything you can donate. Thanks for listening to our story.
