Marcus is our beloved 8-year-old cat, and he means the world to our family. A few weeks ago we noticed rapid weight loss, a swollen belly, and a yellow tint to his ears and skin. We rushed him to the emergency veterinary hospital, where tests revealed severe abdominal fluid (ascites), anemia, liver involvement, and jaundice. The doctors told us the most likely diagnosis is FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) — a devastating disease that is fatal without treatment — or another condition that could be even more serious.

Marcus is still eating and fighting, which gives us hope. The vet prescribed urgent treatment with GS-441524, a medication that has saved many cats with FIP, but it must be given daily for about 12 weeks. We have already paid for the emergency visit, diagnostics, lab work, medications, and supportive care — borrowing money, using what little savings we had, and relying on small donations from kind people. We truly have no extra funds left.

The only thing we still cannot afford is the life-saving antiviral medication, which costs about $450 to begin treatment. We are doing everything we can to cover it ourselves, but every dollar is a struggle right now. Any amount — no matter how small — would help ease the burden on our family and give Marcus a real chance to survive.

Marcus has a unique story — he is the only survivor from his litter. We were told his siblings died young due to severe genetic issues, yet he has stayed with us for 8 wonderful years. He is gentle, loving, and deeply bonded to our family. We cannot imagine giving up on him while he is still fighting.

Every dollar raised will go directly toward Marcus’s treatment and follow-up veterinary care. If, by some miracle, there are any funds left after his recovery, we promise to donate them to animal shelters to help other pets in need.
