Help Marcus Get the Urgent Surgery He Needs

Marcus is a happy, joyful little boy who loves play soccer and draw — art and PE are his favorite classes at school. Since the accident, the question he keeps asking me is: “When can I play soccer again? When can I draw?” Hearing that has been heartbreaking as a mom.

On Friday, December 12, Marcus fell from the monkey bars while celebrating his older brother’s birthday, landing all his weight on his dominant right arm. He suffered a supracondylar fracture, a serious injury that requires urgent surgery to prevent permanent damage.

Marcus was seen in the ER, and doctors have been very clear: every day without surgery risks his arm mobility. The earliest surgery date is December 23, but we are being asked to pay over $10,263.64 upfront to proceed.

At the time of the accident, we were temporarily without active health insurance, though we were already in the process of securing coverage starting in January. Unfortunately, this injury will not be covered because it happened before the policy's start date.

In the U.S., medical emergencies without insurance are extremely expensive. With separate billing for the ER visit, surgery, anesthesia, imaging, labs, follow-up care, and future physical therapy, the total estimated cost is close to $50,000.
