Support the New Arts Center Theatre on Marco Island

We are reaching out on behalf of Marco Island Center for the Arts for its Arts Center Theatre for support to help us check off items on our Wish List before our 2024-2025 Season. We have raised a portion of the funds but we need you to execute vital upgrades for the benefit of all.

In July of 2022, Marco Island Center for the Arts became the producing and presenting entity for the Arts Center Theatre. While other community theaters on Marco ceased operation, the Arts Center Theatre became the ONLY community theater on the island serving Marco and the surrounding area.

In just two years, we have rolled out two full seasons, producing six mainstage shows each season, offering a monthly comedy series, and partnering with other performing arts organizations to present musicals and even excerpts from The Nutcracker Ballet! We have made what was thought to be impossible, possible.

Starting in 2023, we were able to offer a two-week theater intensive summer workshop in July for youth ages 9-13 with teaching assistant positions available for young people up to age 18. Not only did the participants audition and learn the script, music, and choreography for the production, but they also built the sets, costumes and learned about lighting and sound. A full musical production of A Year with Frog and Toad was presented at the end of the workshop. In the summer of 2024, the youth summer theater program will produce the musical version of Finding Nemo.

The future looks bright indeed. However, most of our equipment hasn't followed us into this new era. We haven't been able to fully realize our artistic dreams as our equipment is as old and losing functionality. We have been limping along in this area but creatively making due...as resourceful theater people tend to do.

Joyfully we look forward to presenting more musicals and even producing one ourselves to kick off our 2024-2025 season. There will be plays that require beautiful underscoring. Projection capabilities will allow us to produce shows that require multiple locations and various settings. We will literally be able to take the audience to new places.

Our current equipment is not able to support our vision and our productions with the level of excellence for which we strive. We are woefully behind the times as far as technology is concerned. The equipment we have is not just old but failing.
