Help Marci Overcome Her Spinal Injury

Donation protected

As many of you may have heard, Marci was involved in a mountain bike accident resulting in a spinal cord injury. She was medically evacuated by Helicopter and sent to Mercy medical where she underwent immediate surgery to stabilize her spine. Next week she will be flown out of state to a specialty spinal cord facility to start the long road to recovery.

Marci lives life.

As an ICU nurse she fearlessly advocates for her patients. The unloved, the difficult, the hopeless and the hopeful, it didn’t matter. Under her care her patients and their quality of life were always what mattered. Nothing stopped her advocacy, difficult decisions, clinical challenges, she never buckled, not once. Even at the expense of her own mental health. Her passion for her patients could at times make her polarizing but no colleague past or present would ever say that she didn’t care. Marci tries. Always. She has been the recipient of many awards and accolades in the field of nursing. She has given so much of herself to our community. If your loved one was in the hospital you would be so lucky to have her on your family’s side. She has made life long friends with patients going above and beyond her basic hospital responsibilities.

In her personal life Marci again lived passionately. She has a beautiful family and is the mother to two strong, and mature young men. In addition she has an extended family of friends that she keeps close. Her people are extremely important to her. She enjoys nothing more than being by the river, with her dogs, her kids, her friends, a chair and a nice cold beer.

Marci enjoys travel and adventure, she is always planning the next thing! Country concerts, day trips to the woods, biking, motorcycles, building a shed, and with her- who knows! Even a random week trip with her son and father planned in a few minutes. She is always trying to squeeze the most of every moment and has a deep love of the natural world.

Marci’s road to recovery will be long. It will be painful. But if anyone has the grit and resolve to overcome, it’s her.

The cost of care, travel, and accommodations are going to be enormous. But if anyone ever deserved it, it’s her. She has given so much to so many who could give nothing back. Now she needs help. From all of us at the family we deeply appreciate any help you can give.

Thank you

We will post updates via this forum to try to keep information in one place and get everyone updated more easily. Marci is very appreciative of all the loving and supporting texts she is receiving, even if she can’t get back to you.
