Help Marci Heal: A Long Road Ahead
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Amy Dunwoody and I am setting up this Go Fund Me for my cousin, Marci Cox. Here is her story.
On April 6, 2025, my cousin Marci and two of her coworkers were in a terrible car accident. They were on their way back to Michigan from a girls getaway in Georgia. It was about 1:20am and they were driving up I-75. It was dark and rainy, and road conditions were pretty bad. A car a few miles ahead of them had spun out and landed in the middle of the road, no lights on and no hazards. It was left abandoned in the middle of I-75. By the time they saw it, it was too late. They hit it full speed and the impact sent their car flying 60 feet into a ditch. My cousin's legs were pinned under the dashboard and the emergency crew needed the jaws of life to get her out. She suffered a broken arm, a broken left hip socket, fractured ribs and dislocated toes. Her friends also suffered injuries, but thankfully everyone survived the crash. Thank God for airbags and seatbelts!
Marci was taken to the University of Kentucky hospital where she underwent surgery to repair her hip and arm. She spent 7 days there and was released to go home on the 13th. Although she is now home with her husband, it is going to be a long road to recovery. She is out of work until September and is still waiting to see how much insurance will cover of her hospital bills. Thankfully, her insurance is covering the loss of her car, which was totalled as you can imagine.
She is currently bound to a wheelchair until her hip heals. She is able to stand and pivot but walking is difficult. Normal daily activities are also difficult. I'm setting up this GoFundMe, to help her not only with potential looming hospital bills, but to also help pay for meals and housework support. She will have enough on her plate with rehabilitation, she shouldn't have to worry about financial burdens.
Along with any financial contribution you feel moved to make, please keep Marci and her coworkers in your prayers for a full and complete recovery. I am sure she will appreciate knowing that people are praying for her and for any financial support that we are able to generate through this effort.
Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers and support.
