Help Marchetti Cogan family rebuild after fire

On July 29, 2022, the McKinney Fire roared through the small community of Horse Creek near the Klamath River in Northern California. Both John Cogan and Sherri Marchetti were living in a house located on the Klamath that was quickly taken by the rapid-moving fire, which has now grown to be the largest wildfire of the season here in California. Sherri barely made it out alive, while tragically John Cogan lost his life to the fire. The family had dogs and a cat that were unaccounted for until miraculously one of the dogs was found just this morning (August 1) and has been reunited with Sherri, while the search continues for the other animals. As far as we currently know as the fire continues to grow in acreage and as the damage continues to be assessed, the entire home is completely gone along with 3-4 cars that were located on the property.

The money raised in this gofundme will help Sherri rebuild her life as she made it out with nothing but the clothes on her back. It will also go toward a burial service for John Cogan. Any and all donations and shares of this campaign is deeply appreciated by the entire Marchetti and Cogan families. Updates will be provided as more information comes to light. We are extremely grateful to the firefighters that are currently working day and night to contain the fire, for the people responsible for bringing Patches the puppy to safety and for everyone’s efforts to save what’s left of the area. Our condolences to those who has also suffered major losses from this tragic wildfire.
