Help Marche Have a Journey Abroad

Welcome! My name is Marche and I would like to thank you for simply clicking on my campaign.
Before I explain my motivation for my goal, I would like to give you some background about my mission.
I am a 2nd year student who attends my dream school, Texas Tech University (Wreck’Em!) to study Environmental Engineering. Climate change is a global problem that requires unique solutions and learning how to better maintain the resources of this lovely planet we call home is my mission. And I need your help to fulfill my goal.
In order to meet all the requirements to graduate, Texas Tech requires that all engineering majors travel abroad to develop unique professional skills and global awareness. As I researched where I’d like to travel, I discovered that Australia has created policies to reduce environmental issues exclusive to the continent. Thus, my interest was piqued, and I’ve decided to pursue an internship at a company in Brisbane, Australia. While this is an amazing opportunity, there are some barriers that are hindering my progression towards fulfilling this university requirement.
The total cost of the trip is $5,655. This includes the internship’s program fee, and the projected cost of airfare, public transportation, and housing.
In terms of my background, my family made the journey from a small developing country in the Southern Caribbean with the purpose to gain and provide better opportunities for themselves and the future of the family. My mother, a single parent worked hard to provide for my younger brother and I. But when she passed away from cancer, there was a great shift in our lives that is still being felt, ten years later. Her death influenced my passion for creating solutions to cleanse our environment. After all, it was her that set me on the course of life I am on today. This is why your generosity can hold more value than being a number.
I was 5 years old, riding in the car with my mom in my hometown Houston, Texas when I saw a road sign that read “Don’t Mess with Texas”. My mother explained to me that the sign was made to encourage us to treat the environment nicely or else Texas would become sick. It was that moment that inspired me to learn how to protect the environment in any way possible.
After my mother's death, I finished 5th grade and my brother and I moved in with my Aunt and uncle who provide for us.
In my current situation, my grandmother is unemployed, and my younger brother is in High School. We do not have a stable source of income or transportation.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from High School so through the blessing of financial aid, scholarships, loans and the help of my aunt and uncle I am able to pursue my education at TTU. This past summer I got my first job at the YMCA and I started saving for my trip. While I know that my aunt and uncle will help me in every way they can, I wish to try to raise the funds with help from other family members and good friends of my Mom and any other persons who read my story and are willing to assist. This will help to take some of the stress off my aunt and uncle who have done so much for my brother and me already.
Your donations will help provide me with the opportunity to fulfill my goals that would NOT be possible otherwise. Any amount you can afford to donate will be greatly appreciated. I sincerely thank you again for your generosity. I am looking forward to leaving for Brisbane on June 14th and returning August 10th, packed with the information that I have acquired abroad, all if it is the will of the Lord!
Thank you again for your kindness and assistance. May God Bless you abundantly!
