Dear Friends,

I am so proud to share some exciting news about my brother, Marcelo. This July he has been selected to compete in the World Championship for paragliding in Alanya, Turkey, from October 9th to the 19th, becoming the first Bolivian ever to qualify for this prestigious event. No Bolivian has ever had the opportunity to participate in a competition of this level, and the fact that Marcelo will stand among the world’s best fills me, and our entire family, with enormous pride.

Marcelo has dedicated the past 28 years of his life to paragliding with immense passion, professionalism, and responsibility. Throughout his career, he has had the honor of representing Bolivia in numerous national and international competitions. Most recently, earlier this year, he competed in the Campeonato Panamericano de Parapente in Chile, where he proudly finished in 6th place! This outstanding result gave him enough points and a direct qualification to the World Championship in Turkey — an event where only 150 pilots from around the globe are invited to compete.

Unfortunately, there is no governmental or institutional support for paragliding in Bolivia. Marcelo has been preparing to cover all the costs on his own in order to make his dream possible and proudly represent his country on the world stage. However, I want to do everything I can to support him, and this is why I am organizing this fundraiser.

My goal is not only to help relieve part of his financial burden, but also to make it possible for him to bring at least one person with him. Having a teammate by his side would mean so much — someone to assist with logistics, to help him stay focused, and most importantly, to provide the moral support he deserves while competing at such a high level so far from home.

To honor every single person who supports him, Marcelo has decided to carry each donor with him in spirit: he will write the name of every donor on his competition t-shirt, so that when he takes flight, he feels the strength, encouragement, and love of everyone who believes in him.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference. Your support will help Marcelo fly with the strength and confidence of knowing he is not alone — that he carries with him the love and backing of his family, friends, and community, all of whom are incredibly proud of him and everything he has accomplished.

Estoy muy orgullosa de compartir una noticia emocionante sobre mi hermano Marcelo. Este pasado Julio fue seleccionado para competir en el Campeonato Mundial de Parapente en Alanya, Turquía, del 9 al 19 de Octubre, convirtiéndose en el primer boliviano en la historia en clasificar para este prestigioso evento. Ningún boliviano ha tenido la oportunidad de participar en una competencia de este nivel, y el hecho de que mi hermano esté entre los mejores pilotos del mundo nos llena, a mí y a toda nuestra familia, de un orgullo enorme.

Marcelo ha dedicado los últimos 28 años de su vida al parapente con inmensa pasión, profesionalismo y responsabilidad. A lo largo de su carrera, ha tenido el honor de representar a Bolivia en numerosas competencias nacionales e internacionales. Recientemente, a principios de este año, participó en el Campeonato Panamericano de Parapente en Chile, donde obtuvo el 6º lugar. Este destacado resultado le otorgó suficientes puntos y una clasificación directa al Campeonato Mundial en Turquía, un evento donde solo 150 pilotos de todo el mundo son invitados a competir.

Desafortunadamente, no existe apoyo gubernamental ni institucional para parapente en Bolivia. Marcelo se esta preparando para cubrir los gastos por su cuenta con el fin de hacer posible su sueño y representar orgullosamente a su país en un escenario mundial.

Sin embargo, quiero hacer todo lo posible para apoyarlo, y por eso estoy organizando esta campaña de recaudación de fondos.

Mi objetivo no solo es ayudar a aliviar parte de la carga financiera, sino también hacer posible que pueda llevar al menos a una persona con él. Tener un compañero a su lado significaría mucho: alguien que lo apoye con la logística, lo ayude a mantenerse concentrado y, lo más importante, le brinde el apoyo moral que merece mientras compite a tan alto nivel y lejos de casa.

Para honrar a cada persona que lo apoye, Marcelo ha decidido llevar a cada donante con él en espíritu: escribirá el nombre de cada persona en su camiseta de competencia, de modo que cuando tome vuelo, sienta la fuerza, el aliento y el cariño de todos.

Cada contribución, sin importar el tamaño, hará la diferencia. Tu apoyo ayudará a Marcelo a volar con la confianza de saber que no está solo — que lleva consigo el amor y respaldo de su familia, amigos y comunidad, todos los cuales estamos increíblemente orgullosos de él y de todo lo que ha logrado.
