Help Marc Get to MAYO

Donation protected
In February of this year Marc woke and said "I need to go the emergency room, I think my appendix burst."  Within hours we found that it was not his appendix but rather an acute thrombosis in his hepatic system.  This single blood clot has rooted throughout three veins that has grown which is causing a 98% blockage to his portal vein, and 90% blockages to both mesenteric and splenic veins.  From the emergency room at Bolivar, MO he was put into ICU and later transferred to a larger hospital in Springfield.  With very little hope given we went to Mayo Clinic for further evaluation.
The doctors at Mayo Clinic have been amazing.  They told Marc, "we are going to figure this out".   After two weeks of appointments and many scans and tests though answers were not really found. These types of clots are typically caused from cancer of the liver or cirrhosis of the liver.  He has neither.  However he was diagnosed in 2007 with severe arsenic exposure which does cause the issues he is having.  We believe the exposure to this toxic metal was from our public water supply.  One of our children has had similar issues and even shares a cancer marker with Marc despite the fact  they are not blood related.

Six months later... Marc is now on the highest dose of blood thinner his body can take in attempts to keep the blood flowing through the veins of his hepatic system. Surgery is not an option due to the location and medicines with "clot breaking" abilities would likely cause hemorrhaging in other parts of his body.
Several weeks ago Marc started showing signs that other mechanisms in his body are flaring up and he is very ill again.  Our local doctor shared with us today the best place for Marc to be cared for is back at Mayo.  We knew this however have not been able to return due to an issue with the insurance that we recently discovered was not 'real' insurance.
Marc is a medically retired police officer with a non duty disability from the  City of Springfield, Missouri.  His police career was ended following a head on collision with an intoxicated teenager.  Several years ago retirees from this particular city were removed from the insurance plan in efforts to save money and Marc sought out private coverage.  The provider he chose (MedShare) has paid for all of the medical bills submitted however Missouri and Minnesota are 2 of the seven states in the US that do not recognize MedShare as insurance. Despite the fact his doctors there  want to see him as soon as possible the billing office is requiring a $5000 deposit before Marc can be seen again.  This is due to his complex medical situation.

Daily Marc is getting sicker and the funds earned through this campaign  would not only help to pay this deposit but to also assist in travel and lodging and medicine.
Our personal funds are tapped out.  One year ago our son Levi was diagnosed with a condition called Chiari Malformation and after four trips to the Mayo Clinic he was then prescribed a four week pediatric pain management course.  It was during this time that Marc's thrombosis reared it's ugly head.  The blessing was that we were already in the Rochester MN area for a month.
Deciding to do this Go Fund Me campaign has been incredibly difficult.  We do not ask for help very often and rarely has it been financial.  Marc, my husband is just so very sick.  He absolutely loves people and would do anything including laying down his life for anyone in need and that has allowed us to make the decision to ask you...to help him.
We are only asking for the amount Mayo is requesting.  Any extra would be used for travel, lodging and the costly blood thinners Marc will have to take for the rest of his life.
