Marc Edward De Dios has been bravely fighting for his life in the ICU for nearly a month. He is battling valley fever pneumonia, severe fungal meningitis, and hydrocephalus, which all have made his situation increasingly challenging.

Marc’s Story:

Marc's journey has been incredibly long and tough. It initially started with a cough in October/November 2023, he was treated for bacterial pneumonia but not for fungal. It progressed from his lungs to his brain in the past 6 months. There have been gradual health changes in his health and on June 9, 2024, he finally got admitted due to prolonged altered mental status. After a variety of tests and exams, he was diagnosed with fungal meningitis from valley fever pneumonia resulting to hydrocephalus. Since his ICU admission, he had undergone three External Ventricular Drainage (EVD) and is currently awaiting shunt placement. The complications from these serious conditions and treatment plan have required intensive care, and his health remains precarious. Every day in the ICU is a battle, not only for Marc but also for his devoted mother, who has been by his side every step of the way.

A Mother’s Love and Sacrifice:

Marc’s mom is his primary caretaker. She has not left his side, dedicating all her time and energy to support and care for her beloved son. The emotional and financial toll of this ordeal is overwhelming. As Marc continues to fight for his life, his family faces mounting medical bills, daily living expenses, and the financial strain of prolonged hospital care.
