My name is Maha Farwana. I'm a Palestinian-American living in Michigan.
I'm raising funds to help medically evacuate my sister. Her name is Maram. She is a sister, a daughter, a bright and gentle soul who used to walk freely through her neighborhood, helping others and caring for her family. She is suffering from Hemiplegia. She's had the condition for 6 years and has been unable to receive treatment or medicine since the beginning of the war over a year ago. She is currently living in the Khan Younis refugee camp with 5 kids and her husband. Our goal is to evacuate the entire family to safety.
In Gaza, there is no treatment for her. Hospitals are overwhelmed. Electricity is scarce. Physical therapy, advanced imaging, neurological care—these things simply do not exist here in the way she needs them. Maram’s only chance is medical evacuation to the United States, where she has been offered the opportunity for evaluation and treatment that could change her life.
The funds will be handled by my brother Mohamed Muqbel Farwanah who's living in Al-Birimi, Oman. They will be given to an organization willing to assist the evacuation:
- PRCS (Palestinian Red Crescent Society)
- ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross)
- UNICEF
- HEAL Palestine
- Oxfam
- Norwegian Refugee Council
- UNRWA
