Help Maram Finish Medical School

My name is Lucien Baskin and I'm a student at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City. My friend Maram Mohammad Youssef El-Taweel is also a student trying to complete her university degree in medicine, however, this is much more challenging because she lives in Gaza. Over the past 14 months, 85% of the schools and all of the libraries in Gaza have been destroyed and every single university has been bombed. More than 10,000 children, as well as countless teachers, professors, and university students have been killed. Under these horrible conditions, Maram continues to pursue her education so that she can become a doctor and serve her community. I am asking you today to donate to this fundraiser to support her education.

Hello everyone, My name is Maram Altawil, 23 years old, a medical student. With heavy heart, I write to you about my experiences living in Gaza after 14 months of war we see no end, we only see destruction, bombing, starvation, and fear.

In the chaos of bombings, my dreams are shattered. As a fifth year medical student in Gaza, my education and future are in ruins. Each day brings fear and uncertainty about whether I can continue my studies or rebuild my life. The destruction of our universities and homes has left me lost and hopeless.

Despite these overwhelming challenges, my commitment to becoming a healthcare provider remains unwavering. Currently, I am volunteering at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis , striving alongside my colleagues to provide essential medical care to our community. However, the conditions are dire, and resources are scarce, making it incredibly difficult to provide the level of care that is needed.

Maram serves her community in a hospital in Gaza, working shifts that can be as long as 18 hours or more.

‎This is my house that was bombed by the merciless occupation. It became just rubble, even my efforts, books, studies, and certificates that remained in our home that was destroyed.
