Help Mara Heal Cathulhu After Hurricane Milton

Hello, I am Maraley, but I go by Mara. I met Cathulhu in June when she was only a few weeks old. Her mother raised her and her three siblings right behind a palm bush underneath my living room window. In August, her mother left them in my care, and I have been feeding them ever since.

I live in Clearwater, Florida. You may have heard about it in the news. Hurricanes Helene and Milton pretty much rocked this area. Cathulhu and her siblings Boots, Fluffy Tail, and Missy made it through Helene unscathed, but I cannot say the same about Milton.

The time to prep for Hurricane Milton was very short, and I was unable to trap them before I had to evacuate. I was worried sick. The hurricane hit on October 9, 2024.

I finally returned to my apartment today, October 11, 2024! Boots, Fluffy Tail, and Missy were spotted and in good health and spirits, but Cathulhu was sporting a limp. Upon closer inspection, I noticed a whole toe bean was ripped off and dangling. She must have stepped on debris or was ripped off of whatever she was holding onto for dear life. My heart broke, as she is the smallest of the four, a void, and she is the most friendly.

Our area has coyotes, bald eagles, gators... you name it! This is Florida, after all. I have decided to take her in, as I am not sure how she is going to heal, and because she is easy pickings for any wild animal. While I have always taken monetary responsibility for all the animals I own, I have a 16-year-old dog that has had many doctor visits this year (almost $4000 this year alone!), and with the back-to-back storms, we are a little strapped for cash (prepping costs a lot!).

I am hoping the kindness of strangers will help me with funds to buy a crate while she acclimates, pet insurance fees, medications, food, and whatever else she may need while she transitions from outside to indoor kitty. I have set the GoFundMe at 200 bucks, which should be enough. It will also help us with catch and release trap deposits for her siblings to get fixed and vaccinated. Every little dollar will help us get her safe and sound and her siblings fixed and vaccinated!
