Help Mara Fund Safety and Surgery
Donation protected
Update: 03/01/2025
Hello Friends!
My first set of surgeries is happening! It got a little delayed, but I go into surgery on March 4th, in just 3 days!!! But I'll still need to be raising money to help buy food and cover other costs during the initial recovery period. As well as funds to help cover the second surgery date, which I'll hopefully have a date for by the end of this surgery trip!
I have so many of you to thank, and I'm sorry I haven't done so more personally with all of you yet. Everything's been so wild leading into all of this and I've been terribly distracted. On the 4th I'll be getting bottom and top surgery and there's just no way I can express the gratitude I feel for those of you who have donated, both on and off of this platform. You're helping me fix something vital and literally making a dream come true.

Hi, I’m Mara, and I’m urgently asking for your support in a time-sensitive and life-changing moment. I have the chance to complete essential gender-affirming surgeries—bottom, top, and facial feminization—that will finally allow me to live as myself, fully and openly. My surgery is set for January 30th, but without your help, I risk losing this narrow window to complete my transition and secure my identity before hostile changes take effect.
Since April, I’ve carefully planned and saved for these surgeries, doing everything I could to make this possible on my own. But this year, my area was devastated by Hurricane Helene, which severely impacted my ability to work and earn the remaining funds I need. On top of that, I recently received sudden news that I’m losing my current housing, leaving me at risk of houselessness. I now need to relocate from North Carolina to Denver, a safer environment where I can complete my recovery.
As trump has won the election and pledged to dismantle trans rights and end gender-affirming care, this surgery date may be my last opportunity to secure my womanhood legally and medically. With your support, I can cover medical expenses, travel, and relocation so that I can move forward in safety.
I am aiming to raise $9,200, and any funds left over after my recovery will be donated to Trans Lifeline, a grassroots non-profit dedicated to providing direct emotional and financial support to transgender individuals in crisis.
Breakdown of Costs:
Out-of-pocket medical costs: $1,500
Procedures not covered by insurance: $1,500
Lodging near the surgeon: $3,000
Transportation to and from the Bay Area: $600
Food and supplies during recovery: $800
Relocation to Denver for safety: $1,600
Transaction fees: $200
If I can’t raise the funds in time, I may miss this chance entirely or be forced to cut vital costs, jeopardizing my health and recovery. In this crucial moment, every bit of support—whether it’s a donation or sharing my story—brings me closer to security, health, and peace.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and sharing in this journey. Your help means more than words can say.
