This is really hard to write, but our family truly needs help right now.

My dad, Manuel Hernandez, was recently hospitalized after a severe case of pneumonia that infected his lung and caused it to collapse. Things escalated very quickly. Because of the pneumonia and the collapsed lung, his body went into cardiac arrest. It was one of the most terrifying moments of our lives. Watching someone you love fight for their life is something you can never fully prepare for.

He was rushed into intensive care, and while we are incredibly grateful that he is still with us and fighting to recover, the road ahead is going to take time. He’s getting stronger little by little, but he has a long recovery in front of him.

Right now, he’s unable to work, and the everyday bills don’t stop — rent, utilities, food, and basic living expenses are continuing to pile up. We want him to be able to focus fully on healing without the constant stress of wondering how everything will get paid while he’s out of work.

My dad has always been someone who shows up for others. He’s been a faithful member of his church for many years and has always tried to help where he could. He’s proud, hardworking, and not the type of person who would ever ask for help himself. That’s why we’re stepping in for him now.
