Mansfield Park is a fully plant based vegan bakery in Berlin. It's been six years that I have been running Mansfield Park by myself. The business started growing with the COVID pandemic and sales were good in the online-shop. It was the first easy online-shop for (vegan) cakes in Berlin and so it started growing quickly. And then, without ever wanting to do that, I opened a café. Even though I knew it was a big commitment with a monthly rent of 1.500 €, the wish to share vegan cakes with a bigger community was stronger. It still was just me and so, I started burning out running a gastronomy which is open five days a week, making cake orders and offering baking classes. It was too much for just one person. Finally, I ran out of energy and money, because online sales decreased while all the other costs for the sustainably sourced ingredients increased. Now, I'm in debt and cannot pay the rent anymore.
