Help Manny Get His Green Card!
Donation protected

This season has been tough to navigate not only because of the incidents mentioned previously, but also because of the aftermath that they produced. The deaths of black men and women have left us terrified to step out of the house, be behind the wheel, to think of our black family and friends, and to encounter police. While the murdering of black and brown people was not new to us, like everyone else, COVID was.
This brings me to the heart of why this GoFundMe has been created. Without warning, Manny was let go from his job as an architect designer three days after we got married. There were no intentions of him being hired back on once things change in the environment which left him seeking a job again (his previous job had to let him go only a couple of months ago because of his lack of experience despite his degrees).
Manny came to the United States to pursue his dream as an architect and has come so far that he's obtained his Masters. However, it seems in the States, a Masters is not enough to obtain and keep a job particularly in the field of architecture. This creates a huge problem for us because Manny's visa will only allow him to work in the field from which he graduated in.
With little architect firms hiring in the Harrisburg, PA area and beyond or those that don't want to pay the cost to hire him on with a paid green card, this leaves us without an income and scrambling to find ways to make up the additional $750 needed for both of us to be on my health insurance per month.
As Manny and I have continued to dialogue surrounding what to do next, we are convinced that the only way Manny will be able to get a job is if he gets his green card. With the green card Manny will be able to apply wherever he wants and can work somewhere at least to put food on the table while he finds his dream career.
Our rough estimate for this process and card is $5000. It includes the lawyer fees, the ID form fee, the process to submit to the government, a little cushion for insurance while we wait for everything to process, and GoFundMe fees. We need to raise the full amount by August so that we can initiate the process and have this done BY December 2020 or he will have to leave the country and if he goes, I go too.
Another way that you can help offset costs of health insurance is if you make a monthly donation to my CCO page which can be found on the following link: https://ccojubilee.org/about/our-team/destani-langford/526/
Your prayers and any amount you are able to give would be so helpful to us. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out and please share this link with anyone you know who might be able to help.
