Help Mango fight FIP!

I adopted Mango from a cat rescue called Cat Adoption Foundation and from the moment I met him, he stole my heart. His face reminded me of my very first cat that has been missing for 3 years. At first, he was a little shy - but quickly warmed up to me when I bribed him with food (he LOVES treats).

Mango quickly became best friends with my other cats and they constantly chase each other around the house (and occasionally knock my lamp over but that’s okay). Mango is attached to my hip, he follows me everywhere.

On Saturday the 21st of August, I noticed that he was breathing through his mouth. I quickly became worried and rushed him to the vet. They told me he needed to be on oxygen or else he could die. Vet 1 said that he had a mass in his abdomen and has yellow gums and skin - jaundice (a sign that his liver was in distress). The fluid in his chest caused distress on his breathing. I thought to myself no, this can’t be, he was just running around yesterday?? I went to vet 2 for a second opinion to which he said, “There’s a high chance that Mango has Feline Infectious Peritonitis, you’re gonna have to put him down because he’ll just suffer, there’s no cure”. My heart dropped. I remember walking out that clinic - sobbing. I thought - NO. I need a third opinion. I took him to vet 3 which was actually a specialist hospital for small animals. They told me the same thing. “Put him out of his misery - he only has a few days left.” All the way home, I cried and wailed like I have never done before. I didn’t even know I could cry like that. At this point I still couldn’t give up. I probably called about 10 different vets that evening to ask if they treated FIP. They all said “No sorry, FIP is 100% fatal and there’s a poor prognosis”. I finally called Vet 1 again and they said they could treat him, but it would cost 10-15 thousand. I just thought - money doesn’t matter to me just save my boy please. I scraped together what I had left of my savings and hospitalised Mango with oxygen therapy, IV, injections, around the clock care. I have already spent $3,674 on diagnostic tests, consultations, blood tests and emergency hospitalisation. I need your help.

Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) a highly fatal disease for young cats. It’s a mutation of the feline coronavirus that unfortunately happens in 10% of the cat population. He currently has building fluid in his chest, jaundice, and a hard mass in his abdomen. Two vets have told me to put him down as there’s ‘no cure’ but that’s completely false.

Remdesirvir is an antiviral drug that can save him. It’s an injection that needs to be administered every day for 2-4 weeks and then taken as tablets for 70 days. I won’t give up on him that easily, we haven’t even celebrated his first birthday together.

Unfortunately it is very expensive so I need your help :( Luckily I found another vet who can do the treatment for $6-7000. Please help Mango get treatment.
