Help Mandy Share Her Smiles: Fund Her Dentures

Please meet the one and only, fabulous Miss Mandy.

Mandy is a good friend and brings ALL who know her so much joy. She supports her community and is always there for you if you need her. But now she needs us.

Mandy's story begins with a diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis back in 2010. Over time, her amazing medical team determined that Mandy also has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome - type III/hypermobility (hEDS), Sjogren's, Addison's, and more.....and more and more and more is what Mandy has had to deal with. All of these medical diagnoses have forced Mandy to stop working as a teacher so she budgets using her monthly disability check, which means her income goes to just the basics: medical co-pays, medicines, housing, and bills.

Mandy's mouth health has been decimated by her hEDS and Sjogren's, as well as her beginning stages of osteoporosis created through steriod use as a result of her many medical conditions. Her amazing dental team have worked with her for years, trying to keep her mouth as healthy as possible. None of these issues are caused by a lack of dental care or hygiene. But the team has determined the next step needs to be: dentures. As a young woman, you can imagine how hard this has been to face.

A group of Mandy's friends are working to help support her financially through this. Because insurance won't cover any of it (due to it being considered a preexisting condition), Mandy still needs about $8000. Can you help us?

On Monday, Mandy will be getting a panoramic x-ray and full impressions, with half of the funding due. On August 22, all of Mandy's upper teeth will be extracted at once and she'll go home with an immediate set of dentures. Due to Mandy's autoimmune diseases, healing is hard. She'll be off her medicine regimen to allow her to have this surgery. So, many follow-up appointments will happen to ensure her mouth is healing correctly. Once everything is settled and healed, new impressions will be made and she'll get her final upper teeth.

This decision has not been made lightly. Her team began the discussion in April of 2023 and once this is finished it will solve MANY of the mouth issues Mandy has faced through her diseases over the last 14 years.
