Hi my name is Dee and I am fundraising for my dear friend, Mandy Jolley, or as she is known to so many Granny Moo—someone who means the world to me and to so many others. It’s not easy to put into words just how much she and her family deserve support right now, but I hope this gives you a glimpse into the kind of person she truly is.
Mandy is one of the most compassionate, kind-hearted, genuine, and selfless people we know. She is always putting others before herself and is the first to show up when someone is in need—whether that’s offering a listening ear, helping without hesitation, or simply bringing comfort during difficult times. She has touched countless lives through her generosity, compassion, and unwavering care for others.
Right now, Mandy is facing a challenge no one could ever be prepared for. She has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Anorectal Mucosal Melanoma cancer. A super rare and very aggressive cancer. Mandy has begun immunotherapy and radiation, and while a treatment plan has begun, she needs the time, strength, and space to focus fully on her fight—with the love and support of her family around her. Mandy is currently on a palliative care pain regiment as she is unable to walk without excruciating pain.
Mandy has always been strong and resilient, but this is a time where she truly needs the support of her community. Granny Moo is the most hands-on loving grandparent to three beautiful grandbabies and her world revolves around them. Mandy also works tirelessly for her community, working for many years with at-risk young people making their lives safer and happier. Over the years Mandy has worked in a variety of roles supporting young people from being founder and creator of SHINE, an engagement program for young Indigenous girls in Geraldton, to working as an Education Assistant and Student Support Officer running protective behaviour programs for young students in Busselton.
Only recently Mandy began her own NDIS Support Worker Program working with young people in the Southwest. But for the first time in her life, she has had to stop fighting for others and focus on the biggest battle she will ever face.
We want to ensure that she and her family can focus on what matters most—her health, her strength, and the precious time together—without the added burden of financial stress. Mandy is unable to work so the family is down to one income and her partner Grant will also need to take time to get her to the daily radiation treatments, regular immunotherapy in Perth and other medical appointments. With the rising cost of living and fuel prices these trips back and forth to Perth from the Southwest will really take their toll.
If you’re able to contribute, no matter how small, it would make a meaningful difference. Your support will help ease the pressure on her family so they can stand beside Mandy every step of the way. And if you’re not in a position to give, simply sharing this page would mean just as much.
Every act of kindness, big or small, is a reminder that Mandy is not alone in this fight.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you can offer. It truly means more than words can express.
With gratitude,
Dee Shade and friends.
