Because sometimes, the thing that can help the most is money.
Hi there, I'm Gloria. I, like so many people, am a friend of Manda and Allyn.
As we all know, Manda and Allyn are top-of-their-class, gold-medal community builders. They give so much from the literal and figurative gardens they cultivate to so many of us.
And now they need our help.
For the past two years, we've watched as Manda's cancer has returned and slowly taken over her life. I won't detail it here, as she does a magnificent job describing her lived experience with this cruel, nightmarish disease all on her own. Sometimes angry, sometimes thoughtful, often funny, and always brutally honest, Manda is facing her circumstances with stunning mental presence.
Two years after the recurrence of her cancer, Manda is now in and out of the hospital with regularity. Sometimes she's in for days. She's no longer working, no longer eating solid foods, and so full of tubes and other medical devices, she says she feels like a cyborg. She's on a liquid diet now. She is unable to work in her garden or do any of the physical activities she hoped she would be able to come springtime. In summary, she needs help.
As we've all seen, Allyn is Manda's champion. But he also is unemployed after being laid off from his job in tech last year. Despite his 25 years of experience and concentrated effort, he's been unable to land a job. And now doing so is even more of a challenge, as he is caretaking Manda with much more frequency. So, he needs help, too.
There's no knowing what the future holds and Manda never gives up hope or humor, but regardless of what is to come, Manda and Allyn need help now. And sometimes, the thing that will help the most is cash.
Thank you for your support of these two magnificent beings as they contend with what cancer demands each day.
