Dani, mainly known as Manatee Dani,
Moved to Citrus County in March of 2020. To peruse her dream as a manatee tour guide. Before that she was a EMT in Dorchester County in South Carolina. She also helped out with other stations/ County’s. She now has become very popular with the guests and of course the manatees.
The Backstory:
On Tuesday Feb 23 It started out as a normal day at work. Dani had some abdominal pain but she figured it was just another painful kidney stone. Well, we could only have wished. After severe pain and little sleep her friends convinced her to go to the ER. Little did we know that her intestines were extremely swollen and the skin on her intestines was thickened. To make matters worse her white blood cell count was extremely elevated. After several tests, procedures, scans they have all still come up unknown. It has now has been a week and they still can’t figure out what’s causing the extreme swelling and the unmanageable pain. They have discussed surgery but are afraid to go in due to doing more damage to her intestines. This is the same reason they can’t do “exploratory surgery”. As a last resort she now has a feeding tube and hasn’t been able to eat or drink anything for 6 days. Unfortunately there isn’t an end in site.
The Costs:
Even though she’s in the hospital the bills don’t stop. Doctors are predicting she’s going to be out a month or so if not more, if she ends up needing surgery (it’s already been a week). Unfortunately she does not have any insurance to help out with the medical part. Being in the hospital with little visitation hours, out of work and away from her friends and family. This burden is not something we want her to have to worry about.
The money will go to everyday bills, Housing, taking care of her animals, and mainly the huge list of medical bills that’s continuously acquiring.
How you can help:
As her river family and friends this is not something we expected, but who ever does? It sucks to see one of our own struggling so much. As one of her good friends, I made this because i can see she truly needs help. And is definitely to humble to ask for it.
We truly appreciate anything even if it’s a dollar or a share.
