Our beloved Michael (Mehul) Kala recently passed recently leaving an unfinished life marathon at the tender age of 48!
Kala has just completed a half marathon earlier this year and was training to run a full marathon in October. Having accomplished the daring feat many times, Mehul took immense pride in running marathons to support charities such as Chicago's RMHC. Mehul’s untimely demise midway through his life’s journey has left everyone who knew him in immense shock and grief! His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of many he has impacted. How and why – something that most of us will grapple with for a long time!
Mehul was a wonderful mentor and a friend to many and has touched the lives of many around him. “Kala Sir”, as lovingly known during his early years as a part-time educator, shaped the thoughts and characters of many young minds. It pains us immensely -- that he will not be there to influence the minds and hearts of his young children, son - 8 and daughter - 3!
Kala forged long-lasting friendships everywhere he went - BE at LD Engineering, MBA at MS University, and MS at IIT Chicago, or at his workplaces. He lived his life to the fullest and made every moment count. Kala loved life and flirted with boundaries set up by society. You may find Kala’s photo in a local newspaper doing the traditional Indian “Garba” dance, while at the same time you will see Facebook posts of him doing activities that do not bode well with traditional Indian culture! Even if you have known Kala for a long time, you will keep debating – a rebel or a trailblazer?
Kala’s impact was larger than life and his infectious smile and responsibilities were both big! He lived in a house full of love with his wife, two young kids, aging parents, and parents-in-law! The responsibility now spouse had to unexpectedly shoulder. We are all devastated by Mehul's loss and the family is not prepared for the future. As many of you requested, we are starting this campaign to extend financial support in the hope to:
- Pay off part of the mortgage.
- Secure kids’ education costs.
- Provide family maintenance until the spouse figures out the next phase of the life without a primary breadwinner.
We would sincerely appreciate it if you would join us to cherish the life of an exceptional person with your support and keep the family in your prayers!
Thank you so much and have a blessed day.
