I have been working with the original journalist who covered the story (Haziq Qadri) for information on how Bablu is doing in 2020, and I have included a screenshot of one of our messages at the bottom of the description. I have also recently got in touch with the original photographer from Mumbai, and he is helping us search for Bablu in India.
Bablu Pashi suffers from a birth defect called gigantism that caused his arm to grow much larger than it was meant to. His condition forced Bablu to flee from his village to Mumbai to try and find work. However he has had no luck, and has even been beaten and yelled at by shop owners when looking for a job. Unfortunately he has resorted to living on the streets! He desperately wants to fix his arm so he can work and live a normal life. However, his doctors say that a surgery to restructure his arm could cost $30,000. When I first heard of Bablu's story I was shocked that there wasn't a single online funding page to support him. I then reached out to Haziq Qadri who originally wrote the article and has been following Bablu for some time to get an update on him since his 2016 interview. Unfortunately I learned that in 2020, Bablu's arm has only gotten bigger and that the pain is sometimes unbearable. He does not have enough for basic expenses, let alone a surgery. That's why we believe that raising at least $4000 will help him to lead a normal life and cover his basic needs. I am currently working with Haziq, and in contact with Inside Edition to figure out how to contact and transfer the funds directly to Bablu. Please help us get to $4,000 AND HELP BABLU LEAD A NORMAL LIFE!!
