Help Mama Silvi Rebuild Asu Island’s Boat – A Surf Community Lifeline
Yesterday, a fire destroyed Mama Silvi’s boat — the same boat many of us have relied on to reach Asu Island — and left two crew members injured.
If you’ve ever surfed Asu, you know Mama Silvi. She’s the one who welcomed you with a smile, fed you after long sessions, helped you get waves, and made you feel at home on a remote island in Indonesia. For decades, she has been the backbone of the Asu community.
Since her husband passed away, Mama Silvi and her sons have kept everything running — including the boat that connects the island to the mainland.
That boat is everything.
It brings in food, fuel, and supplies. It takes copra to market, providing income for local families. And for many of us, it’s how we got to experience one of the most special waves and places in the world.
Right now, it’s gone.
We’re trying to raise funds to:
• Replace the boat and engine
• Cover medical costs for the injured crew
If you’ve ever scored waves at Asu, stayed with Mama Silvi, or simply love this place — this is a chance to give something back.
Even a small contribution helps. And if you can’t donate, please share this with your surf community and friends.
Let’s come together and support the people who have given so much to all of us.
