Help Vera With Her Fight With Cancer
Recently we were devastated with the news that my mother was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She just went through surgery and we were hopeful for good news… unfortunately, it wasn’t. Chemotherapy is the next step, starting sometime between the end of July and early August, and we’re trying to do everything we can to cover expenses since she’ll be out of work. She cleans houses and does contracting but ever since the pandemic started, work has already been scarce which resulted in losing clients. Throughout this whole ordeal, I’ve been working my hardest to send whatever money I can to both her and my younger brother whom still lives with her and attends high school. My sister also helps in any way she can, however medical bills keep piling up and we’re worried our mom will lose her home. I don’t want this to happen. My mom is a hard-working, selfless woman and has always provided for me, my older sister and younger brother. She always seeks out to help others in any way she can; making contributions to the LGBTQ community, volunteering for children events, and donating for charities. Now we want to give back, but we can’t do it alone. This will definitely not be easy— but battling it together is our only option. Anything for a glimmer of hope. My mother suffers from depression so right now she is feeling defeated and hopeless. She's not aware we're doing this, so we want to surprise her on her first day of chemotherapy in hopes of lifting her spirits and showing her that she is not alone. We hope this will give her the strength to keep fighting this difficult battle. As mentioned earlier, she is expected to start chemo sometime between the end of July to early August, so hopefully we can raise funds by then to surprise her and offset the medical costs. We will keep everyone updated with dates and other details as we move forward with this process. Thank you in advance to anyone who is able to help! Also I know the goal is a bit high and understand everyone has their own battles they're facing. So even if we don't meet this exact goal that is perfectly okay! I am hoping to just raise ANYTHING we can before her first day of chemotherapy.
