Help Mama B fight stage 4 liver cancer

2 weeks ago, my mom went to the hospital with some odd stomach pain. Tests were ran and it turns out she has stage 4 liver cancer.

A neuroendocrine tumor in her small bowel went undiagnosed back in May when mom was in the hospital with some extremely alarming symptoms. The small cell cancer is very aggressive and has spread.

Though she went to test after test and scan after scan, mama b has gone undiagnosed until now.

We are trying our very best to not focus on mistakes and what could have been but rather focus on the precious time that she has.

Mom has begun treatment with her first 3 day round of chemo happening last weekend.
She is taking the chemo well so far, thankfully.

The treatments will hopefully give her the time to adventure, discover and tell her story (mama b has quite an amazing story) before she passes into the great beyond.

My mom is a force of nature. She’s a survivor a lover of community. You may remember her taking your beignet order back in the day we ranThe Poor Porker, beignet cafe as a family. She worked so tirelessly and happily beautifying your beignets. Working there and seeing all of you every week was her absolute favorite. She taught me what it means to truly serve, to be present and to listen. She loves giving “real talk” advice. You may have seen her column, ‘Real talk with Mama Bones’ in our community Dirt Zine that we publish bi-weekly. She’s hilarious and insightful. She gives the best advice.

She’s not very good at asking for help as helping others is her wheel house and not taking help.
My dad, her lover/best friend/husband works in car sales. My parents live paycheck to paycheck like lots of us do currently. This doesn’t leave any room for time away in the event my mom needs extra care. The financial stress resting on my dad at this time is a very difficult burden for my mom especially. My parents could really use the help at this time.

Through this fund, one of the things I’d like to ease is this stress. I’d like my dad to be able to take a little time off work to spend some quality time with his bride.

Funds are also needed for-

-Specialized and alternative treatments. Mom has insurance but it’s not that great and will not cover a lot of things.

-healthy, cancer fighting foods prepared daily And cancer fighting supplements.

-Palliative care and skilled caretakers if/when she gets to that point. We’re hoping that with chemo, alternative treatments this won’t be for a while.

-also, other incidentals etc that will be needed.

-Mama also has one big bucket list adventure- a road trip with her girls eating her way to NYC.

Mama Bones is not giving up hope and is putting up a fight. We’re fighting along with her anddoing everything we can to keep her spirits up.

Mama B has always wanted her very own vlog. She’s the most stylin person I know. If anyone can go through something like this with style and grace, it’s her. I am inspired by her to desire to tell her story. “How to be old and have cancer and still be hot”. Hahaha. She’s hilarious.

We know that times are tough for everyone right now. Really, anything is so much appreciated even if that’s sending her good vibes and healing energy.

We are endlessly grateful.

Much love,
