Help Mallory in Josiah's Leukemia Battle

Donation protected
Hi everyone, I am creating the Gofundme on behalf of my sister Mallory.

In late May 2024 Mallory rushed youngest child little Josiah to Children’s hospital Liberty fearing he had a severe viral infection. Unfortunately shortly after arriving the medical team identified that Josiah’s medical state was far more emergent than anyone realized. Josiah was immediately transferred to Cincinnati Children’s hospital. It was there that Mallory was given the confirmed diagnosis that no parent ever wants to hear.

Not even two years old, Josiah was diagnosed with b-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It was aggressive and would need surgery ASAP. In the first two days Josiah received two blood transfusions. These transfusions made Josiah’s body stable enough to go into surgery. On Tuesday May 28th Josiah went into his first surgery. During surgery the surgeon placed his port, attempted to retrieve bone marrow and conducted a spinal tap. The surgery was supposed to be 2 hours but ended up being over 7. The surgeon explained to Mallory that little Josiah who hadn’t even turned 2 yet has virtually no extractable bone marrow. Due to that Josiah will need to have surgery every three days. During the surgery chemo will be directly inserted into his spine. This procedure is an aggressive approach to get the aggressive cancer under control. This procedure will continue to happen every three days until the medical team is happy with Josiah’s levels. The hope is that he will eventually improve and be able to receive chemo through his port. Once he can receive chemo traditionally he will continue his hospital stay to get him to a point where he can handle full dose chemo 4x a week. Every day is a roller coaster ride for Mallory and Josiah but with continued prayers and strength improvement is possible.

Mallory is a single mother of 5 children. She is now quarantined to the hospital for an estimated 6 weeks. She no longer has a job, she does not have a car, and she has no other income. This Gofundme will help her ensure that she can continue to provide for her children, help pay bills, and any other expenses that will arise during Josiah’s cancer care.

Mallory wanted me to include in this message that she wanted to express to other parents that you need to listen to your intuition. She felt something was wrong for a while but was dismissed often by the medical care teams. Although childhood cancer is rare equip and educate yourself of the signs and symptoms.
