What Happened to Malka
Malka is a 78-year-old disabled woman who became homeless after being severely injured by an SUV — leaving her with lasting spine, hip, neck, and shoulder injuries, likely head trauma, chronic pain, vertigo, and almost no use of one hand. She requires a walker, cannot ride in a regular car or sleep in a regular bed.

While she was hospitalized, she lost her apartment, her belongings, her paperwork, and the government support she had been receiving. Since then, she has lived on and off the streets — without stable housing, a current ID, benefits, or medical care.

We found her on the rainy evening in late March — injured, in pain, and with nowhere to go. She was sitting quietly at a bus stop with her belongings in a shopping cart. She didn't ask for anything but blessed us, thanking G-d for another day and refusing help not to be a burden.

What Has Been Done
Within 48 hours, with the help of rabbis, community members, and a local officer, we placed Malka in safe housing. Since March 30, 2026, we have provided her with basic necessities — a walker, shower stool, raised toilet seat, neck brace, bedding, hygiene supplies, wound care, food, and more. She is eating regularly, recovering, and making visible progress. But she still has a long road ahead.

Why This Is Urgent
She urgently needs help to remain safely housed while her identification, medical care, and social benefits are restored. Without continued support, she risks returning to homelessness, which her health cannot survive. It is not a matter of comfort for her.

Where Your Donation Goes
Donations will be used for essential needs, including:
  • Temporary rent, while we get her back into the support program she was part of before the accident.
  • Food
  • Hygiene and medical supplies
  • Legal expenses and paperwork costs to restore her ID and benefits
  • Doctor visits, in-home assistance, and transportation to medical and government appointments

We will post updates as she makes progress.

How You Can Help
Donate — every amount matters. Share this campaign with your friends, family, and community.

We are two people doing this on the margins of our own lives, and we are actively seeking specialists in South Florida — social workers, attorneys, geriatric doctors — who are willing to help with her case. Please reach out.

Unfortunately, Malka has no family who can support her during this time. She is counting on us — and now, on you — to live her remaining time safely and with dignity.

Studies show that homeless adults over 50 staying on the street are 80% more likely to die within a few years than those who return to housing. Keeping her housed, restoring her ID and access to her medical and social benefits is not paperwork — it is her lifeline.
