Hi I’m Natalie and I would like to raise funds for my best friend and her 2 children, Peter and Imogen.
Here’s Malissa’s story:
Malissa is 42 and proud mum to Imogen and Peter. She loves the outdoors and set up her own forest group, Muddy Adventures, to help local children get outdoors.
Malissa loved the children and getting them out of their comfort zones and watching them thrive and grow in confidence.
In 2023 Malissa was first diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. She went through the gruelling process of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, brachytherapy and several transfusions.
We were all over the moon when she got a NED result ( No Evidence of Disease). She “rang the bell “ and as a single mum and in the clear, planned to rebuild her life with her kids. Although the treatment left her with several issues she carried on, and with a smile.
Just months later in October 2024 a check-up scan found the cancer had returned and was also in her lower lymph nodes, now stage 4 and incurable. She was given a prognosis of 12/18 months. She underwent more chemo and immunotherapy as well as off label drugs. During this time she developed lymphoedema causing her legs to swell and severely limiting her mobility and in pain, but again she was still smiling and still on hand to be there for others just as she always has.
The loss of mobility and independence was a struggle for Malissa who loves being outdoors.
Her latest scan has shown the cancer has spread to her higher lymph nodes and liver, therefore the last treatment has been unsuccessful.
We had pinned all our hopes on a trial drug but she wasn’t selected and no other suitable treatment is available. Chemo can’t cure so it’s counterproductive and she has made the brave choice to try and live again and make memories with her children in the limited time she has left being able to do so.
Although a private and proud person and we never thought we’d be at this point, we would appreciate your support in helping with Malissa’s wish to give her kids some happy lasting memories with her, rather than those of the hard and painful treatment journey they have all been on these last couple of years. Malissa would always be the first person to donate to a cause like hers.
Any contribution—big or small—means the world. If you can’t donate, please share Malissa’s story. Let’s help her fill this precious time with love, not fear.
Thank you for your kindness.
