Malice is my rescue baby that needs help getting her breath back. Last month she celebrated her 2nd birthday on 4/15/25. Only a few days later, on the 21st she had an emergency visit to the vet as she was having difficulty breathing, wasn’t eating, and overall very lethargic. The veterinarian found her to have pyothorax, with pus around her lungs. She was decompensating quickly and needed a chest tube placed to drain the fluid around her lungs and to be placed in an oxygen cage. She was stabilized and sent home with a follow up visit recommended. At outpatient follow up, imaging showed Malice is now having a recurrent pyothorax and the vets are recommending a CT scan and surgery to fully eradicate the infection; her veterinarian bills are overwhelming and I cannot afford the CT scan and surgery that would save her life.
