On January 28, 2026, Malik — a student at Salk Middle School — and his family lost everything in a devastating house fire. In just a few hours, their home and all of their belongings were gone — clothes, beds, furniture, and personal items. With freezing temperatures outside, the family was forced to find emergency shelter and is currently staying in a hotel in Westbury. Thankfully, Malik, his two sisters, and both parents are safe, but they do not have nearby family support and are starting over from scratch.

Malik and his family are beloved members of our Wantagh community. They have always been kind neighbors and friends, and now they need our help more than ever. The funds raised will help them replace essential items, secure stable housing, and begin to rebuild their lives after this unimaginable loss.

I am a parent in the Salk Middle School community, and Malik is a close friend of my son. I organized this fundraiser to support Malik and his family after they lost their home and all of their belongings in a fire on January 28, 2026.

How the funds will be delivered and used

The beneficiary of this fundraiser is Hossameldin Khaled, Malik’s father. All funds raised through this GoFundMe will be transferred directly to his bank account.

The funds will be used to help the family cover immediate and essential needs such as emergency housing, clothing, food, and basic household necessities as they begin rebuilding their lives.
