Help Maleki Fight Lymphoma: Support Our golden boys Chemot

It is with heavy hearts but also hopeful spirits to share the story of our beloved boy, Maleki. After a quick trip to the vet for what we thought was an infection, at just 13 months old, Maleki has been diagnosed with stage 5 lymphoma, a rare condition affecting only 1 in 100,000 dogs his age. This diagnosis has been devastating, but we are committed to giving him the best chance possible to fight this illness or steal some extra time to love on him and say goodbye.

Our Journey with Maleki

For the past 13 months, Maleki has filled our lives with nothing but endless love, energy, laughs and healing that we didn’t know we needed. He has become an irreplaceable member of both our family and the Sunflower Homeschooling community. His presence has been a source of comfort and joy for all those who meet him.

Maleki's Role in Our Community

Maleki is more than just a pet; he is a gentle giant who exudes love and kindness. Maleki joined our Sunflower community and has grown alongside over 15 families. Despite his size, he has always been incredibly patient and gentle with the children serving as a calming and safe presence, often found snuggled on the couch, playing chase, or simply being there as a source of comfort. His role as a "transition dog" has been invaluable, helping children find peace and calm in moments of need throughout the day and during tricky drop offs.

The Road Ahead

Maleki's battle with lymphoma requires CHOP chemotherapy, with treatment costs estimated between $10,000 and $12,000 due to his large size. While the prognosis is uncertain, there is a chance that with this treatment and natural remedies, Maleki has at the very least 8 months and beyond to give us more time to either say a proper goodbye or potentially bring him into remission.
