Help Malcolm Heal: Support His Recovery
Donation protected
I am Carol Risher Brouha, a retired teacher. I have known five generations of Malcolm Edwards's family, and in my youth and in my heart now they are family to me. Malcolm, a precious 14-year-old, was shot in the head by his father in a shooting spree on Wednesday evening, March 19, in Selma, Alabama. His mother was also wounded, along with neighbors, and an elderly woman was killed. Malcolm was a precocious child, homeschooled by his mother (to protect him from gangs), and he was reading at four. At the time of the shooting, he was already enrolled in courses at George Corley Wallace State Community College in Selma and had built his own computer. He was a chef his family delighted in and was becoming a musician. He is also a First Degree Black Belt with the Atlantic Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation. Malcolm is out of ICU but cannot walk or talk and has been moved to the rehabilitation floor at Children's Hospital Birmingham, AL, two hours north of Selma. His family needs transportation and lodging money and will need special equipment for Malcolm when he comes home. This cherished child with so much to give back to his community needs our help.
