My family and I rely on our 1996 Custom Deluxe Chevy water truck to haul water for our sheep, horse, garden, and cattle. With the truck’s transmission out and gas prices rising, we’ve had to pay others to haul water two to three times a week, which adds up to at least 150 miles weekly. Water must be hauled almost daily to the corral, horse corral, and cattle to quench their thirst, especially during the drought.

This summer, the drought on the Navajo Reservation has made things even harder. Without our truck, we struggle to keep our animals and garden healthy. Fixing the transmission and covering mechanic costs will allow us to haul water ourselves, save money on gas, and ensure our animals and home stay balanced and cared for.
