Help Malaina and Cade After Devastating Fire
In the early morning hours of June 28th, 2021, a five-alarm fire devastated our dear friends Malaina and Cade’s apartment in Salt Lake City, Utah. While the cause of the fire is still being investigated, it is known that the fire started on the wooden balcony outside, and quickly accelerated into the interior of their apartment. When they were granted access to view their unit nearly 12 hours later, they discovered that it had been completely decimated by the flames, and they were unable to salvage hardly any belongings. The young couple was lucky to escape with their lives, as no alarms were going off throughout the building at the time. They left in such a hurry that Cade wasn’t even able to grab a pair of shoes; a local SLCPD officer was kind enough to give him his pair.
Malaina and Cade are newly graduated from the University of Utah this year, and just setting out to start their careers. While the emotional distress and financial burden they face as victims of the fire is unappeasable, we hope to help alleviate some of their stress in helping them replenish some of the many precious belongings that were lost; including photos, momentos, gaming consoles, TV, couch, dining table, kitchen dishes and appliances, bedroom furniture, clothing, jewelry, makeup, game and DVD collections, and so much more. Some of the personal mementos and memories that were taken by the fire can never be replaced, but it is our aspiration to get them back on their feet enough to make some new ones.
Anyone who knows Malaina and Cade knows how kind, generous, warm, and inclusive they are. They are consistently going out of their way to brighten others’ days and bring smiles and laughter to those around them. They are some of the best, most supportive friends a person could have, and deserve nothing less than the support of others during this grueling time. Throughout this experience they have remained incredibly resilient, pictured below with soot on their hands and smiles on their faces. If you are willing and able to donate to their cause, any donation helps, no matter how small! If monetary donation is not feasible at the moment, please consider sharing this with friends and family to help spread the word.
Thank you for your consideration in lending a hand to our kind-hearted friends.
