On Friday, November 8th, Fallout roleplayer and content creator Captain Mal Reades suffered a "widow maker" heart attack followed by an embolic stroke while in the cardiac ICU unit in Portland, Maine, and was told by doctors he was lucky to be alive. https://x.com/CaptainMal77/status/1855121925673992417

To make matters worse during Mal's ongoing recovery and long road ahead managing this life threatening event, his wife Trin suffered a fall that complicated their situation further. Trin suffers from congenital glaucoma, having had 3 cornea transplants already, her condition rendering her legally blind. They've been fighting as the doctors want to remove her weaker eye for a year, and following the fall there is a likelihood she may now lose both. It was recommended that Trin be transferred to Tufts in Massachusetts for ongoing support, and Mal for assistance ongoing with his recovery.

WHY IS THIS GOFUNDME NEEDED?

Trin was/is Mal's only support and caregiver where they are located in Maine with no other friends/family resources available to them. Even emergency in-home care currently has a waiting list and they are struggling to care for themselves, much less meet their financial and even immediate medical needs despite assistance from the state. Mal is no longer in a state to adequately care for Trin and vice versa...the toll this has taken on them adds significant hardship on stress that is hindering recovery and increasingly the likelihood of future cardiac concerns for Mal.

This GoFundMe setup with "Captain" Mal and Trin's blessing is to:

Relocate them to Massachusetts to set them up for the next 6 to 8 months to more fully recover and receive proper services. I.E. moving expenses and rent.

Acquire a proper wheelchair for Trin to help her get around safely

Support and offer some relief on living expenses while new and longterm support services are set up for the both of them
