Hi everyone,

It is with a heavy heart that I am drafting this GoFundMe today for my brother's first pet, Mako. Mako is practically his first newborn baby. He took Mako home from a shelter one day for a couple bucks during his first year of college 8 years ago and he's been an honorary fifth member of our family since then. Everyone that has had the pleasure of meeting Mako has inevitably grown a small soft spot in their hearts for this big baby and I can only pray that he overcomes this issue in good health.

Over the past couple days, Mako has been having urinary issues as he would leave behind small trails of blood in his tracks. Yesterday, as my brother took him to the vet, he was given two options... to put Mako down or to have a $10,000 surgery to save his life. Mako is experiencing liver failure and is having difficulty passing kidney stones, therefore he hasn't been urinating properly. Putting Mako down is a choice that we are all unprepared for, and is a thought we are absolutely afraid of. This is OUR cat, the biggest baby of the family. He's loved by many and we will do whatever it takes to provide him with the best care.
