Help Makenzie Heal: Surgery and Care

Donation protected
I am Makenzie's grandmother. Makenzie has been in the hospital since Monday and we are playing it by ear on how long she will be admitted. Makenzie had a surgery in July to remove an upside down tooth up by her nasal cavity. Fairly quickly, it was realized there was an opening between her nasal cavity and mouth. More antibiotics were given and the surgeon was hoping her body would close the hole naturally.

Fast forward to Sunday night and she spiked a fever. By Monday morning, she was draining rotten pus out of the hole. She was admitted to the ER in Redmond and later that night transported by ambulance to St. Charles in Bend. The infection had spread to the bone. She has been admitted and on IV antibiotics since Monday. Jordyn and Jesse have not left her side, causing some stress with finances. I (Denise) have been here with the other kids, allowing Jordyn and Jesse to focus on Kenzie.

At this point, things have been changing daily if not multiple times throughout the day. The infection has caused some bone deterioration. At least one surgery is in her future to close the hole. There are still a lot of unknowns, lots of testing and CT scans trying to figure out the best course of treatment. She has a whole team of doctors helping to see what can and should be done. This is causing some financial stress for Jordyn and Jesse, who have not left her side. We have visited but the hospital is an hour away from their home.

It is unsure how much longer she will be in the hospital, hoping and praying she gets released soon! If you can help ease some of this financial burden on them it would be greatly appreciated, if not prayers are just as much appreciated! This has been very scary for all of us and if we can help their stresses in any way that is the goal, if you can donate that’s amazing, if you can pray for her and the family that is appreciated as well, even just sending some positive thoughts or vibes. Once she is released she will have a lot of follow up care in bend with a few different people that will also cause an uptick in their gas being an hour away from Bend.

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts! We all love this girl and just want to see her better.
