Help make treatments possible for Charlotte

Ok, here we go. This gofundme is being set up for the friends and family that have expressed an interest in being able to help. Charlotte has had a horrendous 3 years. It really hard to explain what she has been through in this time. Ultimately though we know she has dysautonomia, POTS, hEDS, fibromyalgia, chronic nausea, migraines and ME/chronic fatigue syndrome. Yes, that is a lot for a 16 year old. So is her being on 15 regular medications to try to manage it! We have had a long journey to get quality diagnosis and a treatment plan and even still, there is so much that is not fixable. One thing that can be is the muscles associated with the spasms that lock her jaw shut have become oversized (massive was the word the jaw surgeon used). He can inject medical Botox into them next week and she will have relief from pain and less power in the muscles and possibly with the right frequency of treatment the spasms might stop impacting her like this.

Problem is they are not government funded. It will cost $990 a treatment plus consultation fees. Each time. She will need three initially and then more in the future. It’s one thing that we might be able to make go away. The one thing that makes us go to the emergency department regularly. The one thing that is getting so severe they are treating her in resus in the ED with a drug called propofol. They knock her unconscious just to open her mouth. They’ve needed to do that twice in the past 3 days.

So, if I have to turn myself inside out I will find a way to afford this for her! Not to do it is just not an option. To list all the associated expenses for her medications, multiple specialists, home IV fluids and appointments would make your eyes boggle… so I have been strongly encouraged to let others who also love her share a little of the load. So here I am, please, if you are able and want to, consider donating to give Charlotte more easy breaths, more frequent and manageable meals, more consistent medication times, more choice and power over her health. Less trips to hospital, less ambulances, less exhaustion, less pain, less nights of no sleep, less medication. And if you want to help in a way that isn’t financial, feel free to let me know, because we are ok, but not far past just that.
