Help Make the Williams' Home Wheelchair Accessible
Donation protected
Neighbors, please help us raise funds to renovate the Williams' house to be wheelchair accessible!
Many of you know the Williams family, who live in the cul-de-sac on Sweet Pine. That HUGE tree with the rope swing that many little friends enjoy. Their 4 kids walking to catch the school bus, or playing outside on bikes and scooters. Ray and Rachelle taking their family to church at Burke Community. You have probably seen Rachelle walking their two beautiful cattle dogs several times a day throughout the neighborhood.
Rachelle left for the gym on April 24th, 2024, and hasn't been back to her home since. She suffered a severe spinal cord injury during a weightlifting accident, and was paralyzed from the armpits down. After emergency surgery on her neck and recovering for over a month at Inova Fairfax, Rachelle was transferred to one of the best spinal cord rehabilitation centers in Chicago. She has been in full-time therapy in Chicago ever since.
Friends and neighbors have already helped with meal trains and fundraising, which helped her children and caregivers immensely. It also helped with Ray and Rachelle's living expenses in Chicago.
Although Rachelle gets stronger and improves every day, she has not regained the ability to move her legs or fully use her hands. She is bound to a wheelchair.
In November, Rachelle will come HOME! Currently, their home is NOT ready for her. Ray and Rachelle are working hard to coordinate for the construction of a temporary bathroom inside the garage, widening hallways, and partitioning a bedroom area inside the living room.
Neighbors, please help the Williams raise money for the renovation! Once this $10,000 is secured, they will have what they need to complete the projects. Please help bring Rachelle back into a house that she can live in!
