Help Make Ryan's Home Accessible
Donation protected
I first met Ryan and his grandma, Irene, at a camp for kids with Muscular Dystrophy. I was Ryan's counselor in 2017, 2018, and 2019, and I have had the privilege of forming a strong relationship with him and his grandma over the last five years. Unfortunately, muscular dystrophy is a degenerative disease, and it is starting to take away Ryan's ability to walk, among other things. He now needs a wheelchair, which insurance covers; however, none of the modifications necessary for their home will be covered. This includes the bathroom being completely redone to replace a bathtub with a walk in shower and an accessible sink. In addition, a wheelchair lift and enclosure will need to be installed from the garage up to the bedroom. Ryan's grandma and grandpa adopted him when he was a toddler and have done everything to meet every need that has come up. While his grandpa has sadly passed away, Irene continues meeting those needs every way possible. These modifications to the house will be extremely expensive, and life is changing rapidly for both Ryan and Irene as he quickly becomes wheelchair bound. Please consider donating to them to help ease the financial burden, so Irene can focus on learning how to best physically and mentally care for Ryan.
