hi!

if you don’t know me, my name is uchenna. i am a director, writer, and arts administrator from south jersey–and now soon to be podcast host!

ABOUT OUR PODCAST:
How I Got on Broadway is an upcoming informational podcast that explores the real journeys of theater professionals and how they landed their first Broadway jobs. The goal of the podcast is to demystify the path to success in commercial theater, especially for individuals from historically underrepresented communities.
By pulling back the curtain on stories that are rarely told, this podcast will offer transparent conversations about what it truly takes to make it to Broadway in any capacity. Figuring out how to break into the theater industry can feel confusing and intimidating. Our aim is to make the path a little clearer.
This podcast is both an educational resource and a celebration of the many, non-linear ways people can break into the industry. There is no single path to Broadway. By sharing stories from diverse backgrounds and experiences, we hope to challenge preconceived ideas about who gets to take space and make space in the commercial theater landscape.

a year ago, i wouldn’t have believed i’d be making my broadway debut or continuing to work in this space now. part of that disbelief came from how confusing the journey was. it felt like no matter how hard i looked, there just wasn’t enough information about how people got here. what resources did they have? what connections did they make? what practical steps did they take? the goal of this podcast is to change this.

OUR ASK:
to get this project off the ground, we’re looking to raise $1,000 to cover the production of our first 4 episodes. here’s how that breaks down:

Studio rental (3 hours for 4 episodes): $230
One-time equipment costs: $270
Labor: $380
Marketing and promotion: $120

if you believe in transparency, access, and equity in the arts, or even if you just love a good behind the scenes story, i’d be incredibly grateful for your support.

thank you for helping make this dream a reality. let’s get this show on the road!

–with love,

uchenna
