One of Creston's own, 11-year-old Mykela Shields, has a dream to go to Disney World.

Mykela has an extremely rare genetic condition, Lysine Protein Intolerance (LPI), a metabolic disorder preventing her body from properly breaking down and absorbing proteins. Though she is frequently hospitalized, requires 29 medications and is on oxygen support and a feeding tube, she doesn't let it dull her spunky personality.

When Mykela was given the opportunity to Make A Wish, the COVID pandemic prevented her from being able to choose Disney World. While she is grateful for the shopping spree she was given, she's still a little girl with the dream of going to the Happiest Place on Earth.

For Mykela, it's more complicated than most. Right now, she would require a paramedic to fly with her, the most expensive part of the process. Roughly estimated costs for flights, a paramedic, lodging and tickets for Mykela and a caregiver would be $30,000.

If her current treatment plan helps bring her necessary level of oxygen down, this cost could become much lower; however, the family has many things they could use any additional funds for, such as:

Though Mykela's prognosis may look grim, she is a fighter! She loves Lilo and Stitch, hanging out with her friends and going to school like a normal kid. We'd love your help to send Mykela to Disney World!
